if you are trying to find 10 % of a value you need to times it by 0.1
Such as if you were to find 25% of 30 you times 30 by 0.25

-- Before you increase it, you have 100% of it.

-- When you increase it, you add 10% more, so you wind up with 110/% of it.

-- 110% is the same number as 1.1 .

-- So in order to increase something by 10%, you multiply it by  1.1 .
