let [tex] \gcd(a,b)= G[/tex] , $a\ge b$

$\therefore a=G\cdot m$ and $b=G\cdot n$

$a-b=Gm-Gn=G(m-n)$

Now, $\gcd(a-b,b)$ clearly is, $G$
