What kind of change, physical or chemical, is happening when wood burns? How can you tell?

Answer:

Wood changes chemically to carbon dioxide when it burns and leaves a residue of ashes. These ashes cannot be changed back to wood. So it is a chemical change.

physical means it can go back to its shape; chemical it cannot.
for example when wood burns you can’t get that wood back to before it was burned!
