When the Japanese empire was broken at the end of World War Two, Korea became part of the Cold War. It divided into two spheres of influence along the 38th parallel. The Americans controlled south of the line (South Korea) - and the Russians installed a communist regime in the north(North Korea). .I'm actually half Korean.
