Adding salt to the boiling water when cooking pasta doesn't actually make the pasta cook faster. The primary purpose of adding salt to the water is to season the pasta. However, it can slightly increase the boiling point of the water, but this increase is negligible and wouldn't significantly affect the cooking time of the pasta.
