Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church so he could divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon and marry his lover Anne Boleyn.

King Henry VIII wanted to divorce Queen Cathrine and marry Anne Boleyn.

Divorce was not allowed in the Catholic church so he broke away from the Catholic church so he could do what he wanted.

This event happened in 1534.
