Find out if slavery should end or keep going even though to the fact that slaves are escaping to the union side of the U.S. that is against slavery.
To look at the totality of the evidence to be adduced in the trail together with the pleading. That would ensure that the issues are considered and condensed in pre-trail conference minutes.
