In
honey bee nest building, the chosen cavity is cleaned and its surface
is lined with propolis which is a substance the bees made by mixing
plant resins, wax secreted from glands in their abdomens, and their
saliva. Propilis has antibacterial properties which help protect the
nest from harmful bacteria.
