Hi.
You want to start off by changing 1 3/4 into an improper fraction.

Now you can easily multiply

5/1*7/4=
You cannot cross cancel, so you just multiply across. 
5/1*7/4=35/4

Lastly, you can change it back to a mixed number. 8 3/4
